Most people are likely familiar with the idea of the poverty line, as in the phrase “living below the poverty line.” How do we figure out where that line is?

Canada’s official measure of poverty is the Market Basket Measure. To learn more about how we conceptualize and track poverty in Canada, People First Radio’s Joe Pugh spoke with Burton Gustajtis, an economist with Statistics Canada in charge of the Market Basket Measure Program.
