Finland, with a population of around 5.5 million, has just over 1000 people who are considered to be experiencing long term homelessness.
That number has been steadily decreasing for decades, thanks to investment in social and affordable housing.
The country’s largest non profit housing provider is a group called the Y foundation, founded in 1985. People First Radio spoke with their head of international affairs.

Marc Mitchell is an associate professor in the school of kinesiology at Western University. He says even walking ten more minutes a day can lead to clinically significant health benefits.
But it’s not always easy for people to make being active a priority, so Mitchell’s been looking into a way that might get folks motivated to move-paying them.
