Around a decade ago Zakia Moulaoui Guery was working in a job where she’d get to know the stories of people who’d experienced homelessness.
She realized that people in her life outside work were interested in hearing those stories as well, but that they didn’t have any awareness or exposure to them. Moulaoui Guery wanted to find a way to help empower people to share their own stories, and to get people talking about homelessness.
It set her on the path to founding Invisible Cities, a social enterprise that trains people who’ve experienced homelessness to give walking tours of their cities.
It started in Edinburgh, Scotland and has since expanded to other UK cities as well, including Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, and York.
